Does the Office of Sponsored Programs process non-research related proposals and awards too?

Yes, the Office of Sponsored Programs processes all sponsored programs, which include, but are not limited to research projects.  Some characteristics of a sponsored project include:

  • -Specified scope of work or specific aims
  • -Financial accounting in a Pitt 05 restricted account
  • -Specific period of performance
  • -Deliverables, which often include progress and/or final reports
  • -Funded by external organization that may be federal, state, local government, charitable foundation, nonprofit, or industry

All proposals for external sponsored project funding must be routed to the Office of Sponsored Programs via MyFunding

Please contact the Office of Sponsored Programs to speak with your assigned officer if you are unsure whether something is considered to be a sponsored project.
