Award Modifications

As with initial awards, award modifications require review and signature by the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP). When an award modification is received, the Department Administrator must route it to OSP via a Modification Request in the appropriate AWD record in MyFunding. Please see the Award Quick Guides section of the Quick Guides page for instructions on submitting a Modification Request, as well as flow charts describing the process.

Please note: in the “Assign Submitter” step of the Modification Request process, the Department Administrator must assign their Dean’s area reviewer as the submitter. OSP can only sign the modification after the Dean’s area reviewer provides approval by submitting the completed Modification Request via MyFunding.

OSP will review the Modification Request for compliance and accuracy prior to approval. OSP will then create the Modification within the AWD record in MyFunding and notify the Department Administrator when it is ready for completion. Please see the Award Quick Guides section of the Quick Guides page for instructions on how to complete a Modification. 

Meanwhile, OSP will review the award modification and return the signed copy to the sponsor. Once the sponsor returns the fully-executed award modification, OSP will approve the AWD record Modification and submit it to SPA for processing.
