Faculty planning to depart the University (ex: retirement or other employment) should work with their department research administrators to review each of their active awards, nonfinancial agreements, and pending proposals to determine which actions should be taken prior to the departure. Review the terms and conditions for each award and agreement to determine what each sponsor requires for transfer, award/agreement termination, and change of Principal Investigator (PI) requests. Many require notice prior to the departure.
Notify the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) of the plan and request for each through the applicable MyFunding and MyRA record. OSP will assist with the review and submission of the request/notice to the sponsor. Being proactive with sponsored program transitions will ensure that the University remains in compliance with our sponsors and collaborators.
It is also critical to ensure that your research at the University and associated protocols are closed or transferred to another investigator. The Checklist for Investigators Leaving the University provides steps that must be completed prior to your departure.
