Performing Work without a Contract

Investigators who conduct research or perform services for sponsors and collaborators outside of a written agreement or contract may be at risk for not being reimbursed for their work. In addition, any intellectual property developed may not be protected, and shared materials may not be used or returned as intended.

Before faculty begin work for an external entity, provide Pitt materials, or divulge Pitt confidential information, they should reach out to the Office of Sponsored Programs to evaluate which agreements might be appropriate to have in place.
