In accordance with Pitt Policy RI 09 Sponsored Projects – Effort Reporting/Certification, Principal Investigators (PIs) of sponsored projects “must contribute some level of effort to that project to provide necessary supervision/administration, regardless of the availability of sponsor salary reimbursement.”
To ensure compliance with Pitt policy, PI effort should be clear in proposal and award documents submitted to the Office of Sponsored Programs, including whether any effort is to be cost-shared by the department.
