Retiring the CITI COI Training Table

Retiring the CITI COI Training Table

As announced in the Office of Research Protections August newsletter, the CITI COI Training Table will no longer be required for activating awards in the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), beginning September 1, 2026.

To ensure that all project personnel who are subject to University and Sponsor Conflict of Interest (COI) policies have taken required COI training and have current disclosures on file in MyDisclosures, research administrators and principal investigators should take the following actions:

  • At time of proposal: List all known project personnel in the MyFunding Funding Proposal (FP) and indicate the individuals who are Senior/Key Personnel/Covered Individuals (project personnel who are independently responsible for, or significantly influences, the design, conduct, outcome, or reporting of University of Pittsburgh research). Ensure that all Senior/Key Personnel have current COI disclosures on file and have taken the required training.
  • At time of award: Review the project personnel listed in the FP record and update the Award (AWD) record to add or remove personnel. For added personnel who were not listed in the FP record, indicate if they are Senior/Key Personnel in the project. Confirm that any newly added Senior/Key Personnel have current COI disclosures and required training on file.
  • At time of award modification: Review the project personnel listed in the Award (AWD) record. Include any personnel changes in the Award Modification Request (AMR), then update the Modification (MOD) to add or remove personnel prior to activation. For any personnel being added, indicate if they are Senior/Key Personnel in the project. Confirm that any newly added Senior/Key Personnel have current COI disclosures and required training on file.

See the MyFunding Quick Guide for step-by-step instructions on where to add project personnel in MyFunding and to indicate if they are Senior/Key Personnel.
