I am submitting an NIH R35 proposal. How do I obtain a Letter of Support from the AOR?

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) require a Letter of Support from the Institution’s Authorized Organization Representative (AOR) in proposal applications for Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award (MIRA) (PAR-17-094 and PAR-17-190).  The letter must indicate that:

  • The AOR is aware of and accepts the condition that other NIGMS research awards must be relinquished and pending NIGMS research applications withdrawn as a condition of receiving a MIRA.
  • If awarded a MIRA, the PI will devote at least 51% of their time available for research to this award.

The Office of Sponsored Programs (formerly Office of Research) maintains a template for this letter.  Please contact your Grants and Contracts Officer early in your proposal development to obtain and upload the letter in MyFunding.  The Officer will obtain the AOR signature and attach the signed version in MyFunding to be included in the final NIH proposal.
