Genetically Modified Animal Requests from External Vendors

Certain research at the University of Pittsburgh involves the use of genetically modified animals (GMAs) that include transgenic, knock out, knock in, and other genetic modifications and manipulations.  The Division of Laboratory Animal Resources (DLAR) coordinates the acquisition of externally generated GMAs from external vendors by the following process:

  1. The researcher or his/her designee completes the Animal Import/Export Application located on the DLAR Website, and submits the required documents in accordance with the Import/Export Guidance Document, also found on the DLAR Website.
  2. Upon receipt of the Animal Import/Export Application, DLAR will review and process the request.

If you have questions about obtaining these kinds of services please contact DLAR at: http://www.dlar.pitt.edu/ .
