What is SAM.gov and how is it connected to federal sponsored programs?

The System for Award Management (SAM.gov) is an official U.S. Government system and website that contains information on entities that conduct business with the U.S. Government. The University of Pittsburgh is required to maintain an active registration and profile with SAM.gov, which allows us to apply for and accept federal grants and contracts. The University’s Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) was assigned through SAM.gov and is referenced in federal proposal applications and award documents.

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is responsible for maintaining the University’s SAM.gov registration through an annual renewal process.

See the related Tip of the Week on UEI.
