The Importance of Submitting Progress Reports and Final Reports on Time

By receiving and accepting an award for funding, investigators are committing to meeting all of the associated requirements, including the submission of progress reports, final reports, and invention statements.

Federal awarding agencies especially are increasingly enforcing the submission of timely reports.  Failure to submit progress reports or final reports on time may lead to audit findings, award processing delays, or the withholding of funds across the University.

When submitting reports, investigators should work with their departmental research administrators to ensure that the proper routing steps and notifications, including those to the Office of Sponsored Programs, take place, so the sponsor receives the reports before the deadline.
