Award Modifications

Research projects funded by federal contracts are often complex, multi-year efforts, so it is common for federal contracts and subcontracts to require modifications or amendments. As with the initial agreements, modifications require review and signature by the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP).

When an agreement modification is received, the Department Administrator must route it to OSP via a Modification Request in the appropriate AWD record in MyFunding. Please see the Award Quick Guides section of the Quick Guides page for instructions on submitting a Modification Request, as well as flow charts describing the process.

Please note: in the “Assign Submitter” step of the Modification Request process, the Department Administrator must assign their Dean’s area reviewer as the submitter. OSP can only sign the modification after the Dean’s area reviewer provides approval by submitting the completed Modification Request via MyFunding.

OSP will return the signed modification to the sponsor and notify the Department Administrator when the Modification section of the AWD record is ready for completion. Please see the Award Quick Guides section of the Quick Guides page for instructions on how to complete a modification.
