Priming Grants

NOTE: The 2023-2024 cycle of the Momentum Funds is now underway. Deadlines for the 2024-2025 cycle will be posted at a later date.

 OVERVIEW

Priming Grants support significant and innovative scholarship by individuals or small groups of faculty. Awards will be given to support early career faculty and areas where external funding is extremely limited. Awards are made up to $25,000 for one year. These grants are broken up into four subject areas: 

  1. Creative Arts, Performing Arts & Humanities
  2. Engineering, Technology, Natural Sciences, and Mathematical Sciences
  3. Health & Life Sciences
  4. Social Sciences, which includes Business, Policy, Law, Education, Informatics, and Social Work

Letter of Intent Deadline: September 27, 2023, 3 PM
Note: The Proposal Abstract field serves as your Letter of Intent. Upon completion of this abstract, please scroll to the bottom of the page and submit your LOI for consideration. The Research Development team will reach out to LOI applicants with information on next steps. 


ELIGIBILITY

  • All full-time faculty members with appointments that include research responsibilities may apply 
  • Lead Investigator may not be a graduate student, post-doctoral fellow, research associate, or visiting faculty member
  • If working in a team, the investigators must represent 3 different schools as described in the Program Guidelines
  • Faculty are permitted to join only one Teaming or Scaling grant proposal submission at a time
  • Faculty within the School of Medicine are ineligible to apply for Priming Grants and are encouraged to apply to the Office of Research, Health Science's Competitive Medical Research Fund (CMRF).
